A Cry for Help
Psalm 34:17,18 When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is near to the broken-hearted, and saves the crushed in spirit.
Life is great. Life is fantastic. Until it’s not. Until things take a turn for the worse. And at that point, we can be left wondering, “Does God even care? Has He even noticed?” Ever wondered that?
Have you ever felt as though the very spirit, the very breath of life that God put inside you has been completely crushed? Have you ever felt that your heart has been so completely torn apart that it will never heal?
When you hear words like that, it puts you in touch with some of the terrible pain that you’ve experienced throughout your life. It makes you realise how frail our human emotions are, despite all our gifts and abilities and, no doubt, our accomplishments.
I remember a time in my life where I didn’t even have the strength to lift my head and let out a cry for help. Perhaps you’ve been there. Perhaps you’re even there now. Well, I have some good news for you today – some really, really good news:
Psalm 34:17,18 When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is near to the broken-hearted, and saves the crushed in spirit.
The natural consequence of suffering is that it isolates us. Our emotions kind of close down as a protective mechanism, and as a result we feel as though we’re completely alone, even if we happen to be surrounded by some good, well-meaning people.
But in that place, the Spirit of God has the power and the tenderness to reach deep inside and touch our hearts, heal our hearts, soothe our soul, in a way that no one else possibly can.
Remember, the Lord is near to the broken-hearted. He saves the crushed in spirit.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Hi Angela,
Truly sorry for what you are going through. Understand that nothing about you is hidden from Him.
Yes, God speaks to us in many ways, one of which is through His anointed servants.
I’d like to encourage you with the words from Isaiah 41:10
Isaiah 41:10 New International Version (NIV)
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
We are praying for you.

I’m going through a tough time at the moment, having to divorce my husband after 29 years, 27 together and 2 years separated. This was sent by a very good friend and I feel like God was speaking to my heart through these words.
