A Letter from Alligator Creek
Proverbs 1:32,33 For waywardness kills the simple, and the complacency of fools destroys them; but those who listen to me will be secure and will live at ease, without dread of disaster. (NRSV)
Every now and then I feel the need to get right in your face, and today is such a day. How often do you open your Bible and listen to God speak into your life? And if the answer is “not all that often” let me ask you, why is that exactly?
I received a letter recently from a woman who lives in a little community called Alligator Creek. Sounds like quite a place. Anyhow, she told me that her mother really loved God, but rarely opened her Bible … until recently.
She was visiting her mum and took along one of the little Bible studies that I’d written, and sure enough her mother went to grab her Bible to look up the references. The daughter was so delighted.
You know, it’s so incredibly sad to see people who say they love God, who say they believe in Jesus, living their lives rarely, if ever, opening up that great love letter from God – the Bible.
Let’s face it, the world we live in is one big alligator creek. There are so many things out there that want to devour us, and yet we trifle with God’s Word. We’re complacent about hearing Him speak into our lives.
Proverbs 1:32,33 For waywardness kills the simple, and the complacency of fools destroys them; but those who listen to me will be secure and will live at ease, without dread of disaster. (NRSV)
The time we invest in God’s Word during the good times prepares us for when we’re up alligator creek. Quite apart from the sheer joy of reading His Word, it’s an investment that pays dividends time and time again. So, just in case you missed it …
… waywardness kills the simple, and the complacency of fools destroys them; but those who listen to me will be secure and will live at ease, without dread of disaster.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

So true we need to deepen our relationship with our heavenly father and our relationship with his one and only son our Lord and savior Christ Jesus to truly listen and obey his words and keep his commandments written in our hearts and keep them and be doers of the word and not just hearers of the word of God amen😀
