Are You Serious?
Deuteronomy 10:12,13 Now, Israelites, listen! What does the Lord your God really want from you? The Lord your God wants you to respect him and do what he says. He wants you to love him and to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
There is a pandemic in Christendom that is robbing God’s people of the very best that God has for them. It’s called busyness. I wonder, are you someone who’s caught that disease?
Over the last few months, I’ve attended two Christian leadership conferences. Each conference had a particular focus, so the sessions were around that theme.
But at the beginning of each day they both scheduled a short devotion time – not too early – around 8:30, just fifteen or twenty minutes set aside for us to spend some time together with God. I mean, after all they were Christian leadership conferences.
Well, I have to tell you I was staggered. At both conferences only about a third of the delegates turned up to those short devotional times. A third! To tell you the truth, the thought that kept running through my head was, “Are you serious?” These so-called Christian leaders couldn’t break away from breakfast to worship God, to honour God, to put Him first?

Okay, so we’re busy. We’re doing stuff. We have meetings to go to. Well, you know, I just can’t fit in a time with God. I’m so busy doing things, I don’t have time to talk with Him.
Can I ask you something? Whoever you are, whatever your life looks like – when it comes to Jesus – are you serious? Because He is. There’s an amazing relationship waiting there for you and me. But are we serious?
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

It’s possible that these people had their own quiet time, but hopefully some good emphasis on attending would have been underscored…BUT just the intentionality of being at a conference could have/ should have been enough. This is good good for thought though, and applicable any day, right here in my life. Thank you.
