Bosses Be Warned
Ephesians 6:9 Masters, in the same way, be good to your slaves. Don’t say things to scare them. You know that the one who is your Master and their Master is in heaven, and he treats everyone the same.
Leadership in the workplace is a great privilege and even a greater responsibility. Sad to say though, that leaders who profess a faith in Jesus, don’t always handle the task of leadership all that well
I remember a good many years ago now, meeting a man who was really quite the successful businessman. He appeared to be a nice guy (at least as much as I knew him) who owned a pretty well-known business that often advertised on television. He was a committed Christian and a generous giver to the Lord’s work. All good!
The problem was that his staffs were incredibly unhappy. In fact, in all my years of consulting to hundreds of organisations around the world, I struggle to remember one with lower morale across the board than this particular one.
Quite obviously, it shouldn’t be that way. The guy at the top loves Jesus. There should be love and respect and honour and joy in that workplace … shouldn’t there?
But there wasn’t. He just didn’t treat them very well. They didn’t feel valued. Not such a great advertisement for brand Jesus when you think about it.

You can’t make out like a saint on Sundays and then be mean on Mondays. It doesn’t work like that. Each staff member from top to bottom, deserves fairness, decency, impartiality and respect from their leaders.
After all, even though He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, that’s how God treats us, and that’s how we need to treat those with whom we work.
