Boundless Riches
Ephesians 3:8 Although I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given to me to bring to the Gentiles the news of the boundless riches of Christ … (NRSV)
Have you ever found yourself praying for this or that thing that you need – finances, health, a breakthrough here and there – and one day you realise that your prayer life has become something of a shopping list? Surely there must be more to it than that! Surely.
Imagine that today someone came along and offered you boundless riches. Now, just think about that for a minute – boundless. That means without boundary or limits.
Not just two billion dollars or pounds, or whatever your currency is, not just ten or a hundred billion… but riches without limit. How would that change your life?
Most of us work hard to try to get ahead. And most of us feel that there’s never quite enough. It’s not as though we want a lot more – just an extra ten percent would do it. That’d take the pressure off, wouldn’t it? But I wonder whether we’re not completely missing the point.
Ephesians 3:8 Although I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given to me to bring to the Gentiles the news of the boundless riches of Christ … (NRSV)
Paul the Apostle wrote to his friends in Ephesus that the reason he was out there doing what he was doing was in order to bring to the Gentiles (that’s you and me) the news of the boundless riches of Christ.
Speaking as someone who, for the first half of his life, chased the wealth of the world and then at age thirty-six, discovered this Jesus who was prepared to die for me, my heart explodes to read those words … the boundless riches of Christ.
That description is so apt. Those words are so true. The riches we have in Christ and through Christ are truly boundless.
The things of this world … sure, they’re nice … but the boundless riches of Christ … hallelujah!
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
