Christ as Your Cornerstone
Ephesians 2:20-22 ou believers are like a building that God owns. That building was built on the foundation that the apostles and prophets prepared. Christ Jesus himself is the most important stone in that building. The whole building is joined together in Christ, and he makes it grow and become a holy temple in the Lord. And in Christ you are being built together with his other people. You are being made into a place where God lives through the Spirit.
Many a person’s life is out of whack. Things are out of alignment. It’s just not working the way it should be. This wall is crooked, that window isn’t level and this door keeps jamming. There’s a reason for that.
If I were to ask you, what is the single defining truth or reality around which your life is built, what would your answer be?
I was recently in India, as a guest of a church to lay the foundation stone of a ten thousand seat cathedral. After we’d unveiled the stone with thousands of people watching on, it struck me that over the coming few years this massive structure would be built around this very stone.
Your life, let me tell you, is much more important to God than a building. It has much more beauty and potential than any edifice that man can build. So what’s the foundation stone of your life? What’s your starting point? What’s your life being built around? Because if we get that wrong, the whole thing is going to be out of alignment.
Ephesians 2:20-22 You believers are like a building that God owns.
That’s a powerful picture isn’t it? Christ Jesus himself is the most important stone in that building. It’s true of the church, and it’s true of our lives too. Is your life built around Jesus, or not?
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
