Delusions of Grandeur
Ephesians 3:19,20 With God’s power working in us, he can do much, much more than anything we can ask or think of. Christ’s love is greater than anyone can ever know, but I pray that you will be able to know that love. Then you can be filled with everything God has for you.
We’ve all sat on the couch, dreaming big dreams. Thinking about the amazing things that God could do through us. But then, with a thud, it’s back to reality. Nah. Nice thought, but what was I thinking?
Something inside us wants to believe that God could do great and mighty things through us. But then you look in the mirror, you look around and chide yourself for having delusions of grandeur.
What was I thinking?!
Now those dreams don’t have to be big, Billy-Graham style dreams, for us to dismiss them. I remember a young woman, early twenties, who graduated from Bible college with me. Her dream was to open a childcare centre to reach kids with the Gospel. But to her, that felt like Mount Everest.
What dream of serving God have you dismissed in the cold, hard light of day, as perhaps being your own, personal “delusion of grandeur”?
Let’s just take a moment to prod and poke that dream, because …
Ephesians 3:20 With God’s power working in us, he can do much, much more than anything we can ask or think of.
Now, we’d all like to believe that … but is it really possible? Really? Yes it is, however impossible that may seem to you right in this moment. Because, as the Apostle Paul writes in the verse immediately preceding that one:
Ephesians 3:19 Christ’s love is greater than anyone can ever know, but I pray that you will be able to know that love. Then you can be filled with everything God has for you.
Know how much Jesus loves you so that then, with His power working in you, you’ll be filled with all that He has for you, which as it turns out is way, way more than anything you can ask for or imagine.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
