God’s Posture
Revelation 21:3 I heard a loud voice from the throne. It said, “Now God’s home is with people. He will live with them. They will be his people. God himself will be with them and will be their God.
Have you ever wondered whether God is bothered by how little time some people spend with Him? I mean quality time, unhurried time, undistracted time. Do you think, perhaps, that that might bother Him?
I was in a meeting recently with Rick Dunham, a man whom I greatly respect and admire. He talked briefly about God’s posture in our lives. Now, is that something you’ve ever considered? No, me neither, but what he said really made my ears prick up.
So when it comes to your life, the things that matter to you, what’s God’s posture towards you? Does He lean away from you, or does He lean towards you? The answer’s obvious isn’t it.
He sent you His Son, He’s sent His Spirit to dwell in you. He knows everything that’s going on in your life. He cares. He hears your cries.
Yep, God’s preferred posture is very definitely to lean into your life.
And yet, all too often, our response, our posture towards God if you will, is to lean away from Him. No time to pray, to pause, to listen. No time to read His Word or chew it over, but plenty of time to bury our face in a smartphone screen.
Yep. All too often, our posture is to lean away from God. So, how well is that working for you? Hmm?
Revelation 21:3 I heard a loud voice from the throne. It said, “Now God’s home is with people. He will live with them. They will be his people. God himself will be with them and will be their God.
There’s God’s heart towards you. There’s His passion. There’s His posture. I will be their God and they will be my people.
Do yourself a favour. Lean into God.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Hi Berni, you ozzie’s keep knicking our sun…but you can not knick the Son. My dad died yesterday, for real, cancer 88. When a person dies you so so wish you could be with them more, yet in life it is so easy to take another persons presence for granted. Now I know that my dad is with my mum in heaven and i am content for God’s came to sit with me, i put it as that for that is exactly how this feels. So yes i do agree that God’s posture is to come to us. You know i got a message from a cousin of mine, who has not ever sent me an email, expressing her sorrow etc, she does not believe. But i told her that i know where my dad is etc, with me and why. So then it is a question of perspective. God is there all the time but we do not take that time to find out, but when the happenings of life hit, suddenly it is God who comes close to you, regardless of how we have treated him. That is grace is it. I smile. Thanks for what you do, it is a comfort to find your email in my ebox this morning. Eve of the UK, i grin a pom… but real, not stuck up. Love the way you write and teach, Bernie so down to earth and real. Have a cuppa on me, i so wish…but you and your team, please know what you do counts ok. xxxxxxx
