I Blew it … Again
Romans 6:22,23 But now you are free from sin. You have become slaves of God, and the result is that you live only for God. This will bring you eternal life. When people sin, they earn what sin pays—death. But God gives his people a free gift—eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Who needs Easter? Really. It seems so distant from the cut and thrust of day-to-day life. A long weekend perhaps. A bit too much chocolate. Even a church service, maybe. But does Easter actually have any relevance to life here in the 21st century?
Sin. It’s a word that many turn their noses up at these days. It seems to belong to a bygone era when everyone went to church, and religion dominated society.
It’s so easy to dismiss the whole idea of “sin”, I guess.
And yet, as far as God’s concerned, it is the single, most important issue on the planet. It is the pervading, central, all-consuming malady of the human condition. Sin.
So vitally important is the idea of sin to God – not for any other reason that He loves us beyond measure – that He sent Jesus His beloved Son to die to pay the price of your sin and mine.
Some days we’re going to stumble. It’s just what happens. Perhaps guilt and shame will rock you to the core; almost convincing you that you’ve completely blown it this time!
On those days – this simple truth applies.
Romans 6:22,23 But now you are free from sin. You have become slaves of God, and the result is that you live only for God. This will bring you eternal life. When people sin, they earn what sin pays—death. But God gives his people a free gift—eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Jesus died for your sins. Believe in Him, and you are forgiven. Believe in Him and your eternal life is assured. Believe in Him and you are blessed beyond measure forever and ever amen.
Yes. It actually is that simple. Believe in Jesus. Put all your trust in Him. Hang on to Him and never let go.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
