Love Always Acts
1 John 3:16-18 This is how we know what real love is: Jesus gave his life for us. So we should give our lives for each other as brothers and sisters. Suppose a believer who is rich enough to have all the necessities of life sees a fellow believer who is poor and does not have even basic needs. What if the rich believer does not help the poor one? Then it is clear that God’s love is not in that person’s heart. My children, our love should not be only words and talk. No, our love must be real. We must show our love by the things we do.
Love is something that we all want. It’s something that we all need. We’re very good consumers, when it comes to the commodity of love. But honestly, how good are we, at showing love, doing love, living love.
It’s easy to say that we love someone. But love isn’t just a noun. It’s not just something that we have or don’t have. Love is also a verb. It’s a doing word.
Anyone who says they love someone, but doesn’t act when that someone is in need, is kidding themselves. We have a great ability, you and I, to be quick to proclaim love, but slow to do love. But God, He didn’t just say He loved us, He showed us.

The only response to God’s love that rings true, is for us, you and me, to lay down our lives for one another.
Anything less just doesn’t cut it. If you see someone in need, and don’t do anything about it, I don’t care how much you profess to love them, it’s just not true.
Remember, talk is cheap. It’s what you do, that tells the rest of us whether the talk was true.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
