Shady Deals
John 3:20 Everyone who does evil hates the light. They will not come to the light, because the light will show all the bad things they have done.
We’ve all done things we’re not proud of. I have, you have. The question though, for each one us, is this: will we keep on doing those things, or will we come out of the shadows to live in the light?
It’s a terrible thing when our political leaders do shady deals. Sometimes you see someone in power who’s amassed so much wealth that it’s impossible for the money to have come their way legitimately. That abuse of power – that corruption – upsets us all.
But let’s be honest – we’ve done shady deals in our lives too. Whether by gaining some advantage through dishonesty or withholding the whole truth or making a pact with the devil through some secret sin, we’ve all been there. We’ve all fallen short of the glory of God.
And here’s the problem. That very word, “glory” carries with it the sense of a bright, shining light. And when we’re in the business of doing shady deals … hey, we want to keep out of light lest we be exposed.
John 3:20 Everyone who does evil hates the light. They will not come to the light, because the light will show all the bad things they have done.
Might I ask you – plainly, very directly, yet fully in the love of Christ today – what shady deals do you have going on in your life at the moment? What hidden sin is causing you to shun the light? Because that sin is keeping you away from God – you know it, and I know it.
Because God’s glory shines more brightly than a thousand suns; more brightly than anything else in the universe.
It’s time to stop the shady deals and get back in the light.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
