Sin is Never Small
1 John 1:9 But if we confess our sins, God will forgive us. We can trust God to do this. He always does what is right. He will make us clean from all the wrong things we have done.
Life is full of compromises. I guess that’s true, and yet there are some compromises that we make, you and I, that can rob us of all that God has planned for our lives – even when, to us, those compromises seem small and insignificant.
There are times in life when it feels as though we’re doing everything right at our end and yet things just aren’t coming together. It’s as though God isn’t doing His bit.
Sometimes that’s because His timing just isn’t our timing. But then other times … well, He’s all ready to go with His plans and His blessing but there’s something stopping Him; it’s like a blockage.
Now, if you’ve ever had a blocked pipe in your house, you’ll know that a very small blockage can hold back a huge volume of water.
And sometimes there’s some little compromise in our lives, something that we’re holding back from God – some small, hidden, thing that we find so easy to rationalise away, so easy to make excuses for, something that no one else can see except God. And He’s simply waiting for us to set that right, to remove the hidden blockage, so that all that living water can flow.
“But it’s so small. No one can see it.” Sure, that’s what blockages are like. Yet, in God’s eyes, sin is never small.
1 John 1:9 But if we confess our sins, God will forgive us. We can trust God to do this. He always does what is right. He will make us clean from all the wrong things we have done.
What, perhaps, is that blockage in your life? What small, hidden sin is holding back the massive flow of God’s plans, God’s blessings, in your life?
If you confess your sins, God will forgive you.
So don’t just sit there. Remove the blockage. Let the blessing flow.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
