The End of the Runway
Psalm 56:2-4 My enemies come at me constantly. There are too many fighters to count. When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. I trust God, so I am not afraid of what people can do to me! I praise God for his promise to me.
When we’re under pressure, we don’t think too much about who or what we’re putting our trust in, to get us through. We just turn to whoever or whatever it is that we normally trust in, in those difficult times. But … are you trusting in the right thing?
One of the things we don’t think a lot about is who or what we put our trust in, in those difficult moments in life.
I do a lot of flying and as the plane I’m in is hurtling down along that runway, I often think about the pilot who has his hands on the controls to get us off the tarmac before the runway runs out.
That guy is putting a lot of trust in the laws of physics and the aeronautical design of that plane to get us airborne before we run off the end of that runway. I mean … this is a massive lump of metal with hundreds of people and tons of fuel and luggage on board. It’s a scary proposition when you think about it.
But not for the pilot, because he’s done it many times before. He knows it’s all going to work. He has his trust in the right place.
When you’re hurtling towards the end of that runway in your life, when things are touch and go, who or what do you put your trust in? When people turn against you, when you’re afraid, when things look like they’re heading in absolutely the wrong direction … come on, who or what do you put your trust in?
Psalm 56:2-4 My enemies come at me constantly. There are too many fighters to count. When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. I trust God, so I am not afraid of what people can do to me! I praise God for his promise to me.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
