The Guilty Evangelist
Matthew 10:32-33 If you stand before others and are willing to say you believe in me, then I will tell my Father in heaven that you belong to me. But if you stand before others and say you do not believe in me, then I will tell my Father in heaven that you do not belong to me.
Question: when was the last time that you shared your faith in Jesus, with someone who hasn’t yet believed in Him? Someone headed, for a terrible, terrible eternity? Hmm?
One of the things that many Christians find difficult, is telling others about Jesus. It’s odd really. It’s almost as though we’re embarrassed … ashamed. What will people think? Besides, I’m not very good at that. I’ll leave it to the experts.
Honestly, I think the thing that holds many a Christ follower back from telling others about Jesus, is the fear of ridicule and rejection.
As a result, so many people who love God, who’ve put their faith in Jesus, by remaining silent, in effect, deny Him in front of others.
Matthew 10:32-33 If you stand before others and are willing to say you believe in me, then I will tell my Father in heaven that you belong to me. But if you stand before others and say you do not believe in me, then I will tell my Father in heaven that you do not belong to me.
I used to be a tough, hard-nosed, brutal businessman before I became a Christian. And yet, thank God, there were a few Christians in my life with the wisdom to wait for just the right time, and then the courage to speak. People who told me about their Jesus not just with their words, but by the way they lived their lives and how they loved me, at a time when I was difficult to love.
And, let me be perfectly honest with you, if not for those people – I wouldn’t be here with you today.
Here’s the thing: Jesus means to use us – you and me – to tell others about Him. Yeah! You and me –just the way we are.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
