The Hope of Glory

Colossians 1:27-28 God decided to let his people know just how rich and glorious that truth is. That secret truth, which is for all people, is that Christ lives in you, his people. He is our hope for glory. So we continue to tell people about Christ. We use all wisdom to counsel every person and teach every person. We are trying to bring everyone before God as people who have grown to be spiritually mature in Christ.

We all have our little foibles, don’t we? Those little bits of immaturity that we just don’t want to let go of. But Jesus, Jesus came to set us free, to set you free, from those little foibles that are holding you back.

When you think about it, children have a license to be immature. Sure, sometimes it drives us nuts, but that’s why God gave them to us in the first place. They get to make their mistakes in a safe, loving environment. And our job as parents, and grandparents for that matter, is to help them grow up to become mature adults.

The problem is though, that some people never grow up. They carry their immaturities with them their whole lives, at great cost. They’re so focussed on themselves and their own little narrow world, that they become self-absorbed.

But when you encounter Jesus, when you experience His glory, for yourself, it changes you, profoundly.

In other words, when you accept Jesus as your Saviour and as the Lord of your life, He lives in you and His glory shines in you to give you a new hope, for a new future.

And that personal encounter is what brings about spiritual maturity. The Presence of God in our lives to help us focus less on ourselves. That’s how Jesus sets you free to be all that you were meant to be!

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
