Under a Cloud

1 Peter 1:2 God planned long ago to choose you and to make you his holy people, which is the Spirit’s work. God wanted you to obey him and to be made clean by the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ. I pray that you will enjoy more and more of God’s grace and peace.

We all need a word of encouragement from time to time. We just do. And right now, I want to give you a powerful word of encouragement into your heart.

Sometimes we feel as though our lives are under a cloud. Things just aren’t going as they should. And if there’s any time where – if God is indeed God – He ought to show up, it’s right there under that cloud.

Two thousand years ago, the Apostle Peter was writing to some persecuted Christians. They were being covered in tar and lit as torches at Caesar’s garden parties. That’s one serious cloud. And in opening his letter to them, he writes this:

1 Peter 1:2 God planned long ago to choose you and to make you his holy people, which is the Spirit’s work. God wanted you to obey him and to be made clean by the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ. I pray that you will enjoy more and more of God’s grace and peace.

A more literal rending of that last part might go something like this: “May grace and peace be yours in abundance.” Just stop and think about that for a minute. That’s so profound. God is showing up for these people through Peter’s letter, reaching out to them under their terrible cloud, and reminding them that long ago He had purposed it in His great and mighty heart to call them to Himself.

And then, under that cloud, through those trials and persecutions, speaking this great blessing over them:

May grace and peace be yours in abundance.

Whatever cloud you may find yourself under from time to time, I pray that this powerful word would encourage your heart too. God has a plan for you: His grace and peace in abundance.

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Thank you. I really needed to hear that today. I know God’s real I accepted Him in my heart many years ago. I just have had many things happening…many Blessings along the way…but it’s really got me down. I’ve gone to church and the Bible studies and felt fine….but leaving my friends and coming home …to the same issues. Just wears me down . I will be alright though 😊

Thank you for your words ( God’s words of encouragement) l have just recently found out that l have 2 very aggressive breast cancers ( that were very hard to detect) and the oncologist has said it’s terminal. I am Entrusting everything to the Lord Jesus, l know that he can do the impossible, and he has a purpose and plan in all of this and he alone knows the number of my day’s. I am grateful for the peace, faith and grace that he is giving me. I am Entrusting all my needs to him as l don’t know how l will get by financially or in so many other ways, l am divorced and now live by myself. I am just hoping that l may glorify and honour the Lord Jesus as l return to work and with my family and all the medical staff. I am very grateful for all of your messages of God’s word. They have brought me much comfort as the challenges grow. Thank you so much for your ministry. Blessings in Christ. Anne Miles.
