What’s Right and True
Psalm 33:4,5 ... the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. (NIV)
It can be difficult these days to discern what really is “the truth”. There’s a glut of information out there in this digital age – not all of it produced with a pure heart, if I can put it that way.
Without taking sides at this point, one of the most perplexing aspects of the COVID pandemic has been the argument between pro and anti-vaxxers. (Oooh, I bet that’s touched a raw nerve here and there.)
What’s so perplexing about all this is how people can look at the same set of data and draw completely opposite conclusions. The reasons for that are many. Some don’t trust the data, or more specifically the motivations of the people who put it together. Others don’t even look at the data, listening instead to people with whom they have a natural affinity.
It all comes down to our perception of the motivations of governments, corporations, spokespeople and so on. And sometimes those motivations are far from pure.
The same is true when people criticise the things of God, as they do more and more these days, leading many astray. Their motivations are definitely not pure. So, in case you’re perhaps tempted in the face of that secular onslaught to start questioning the Word of God, know this:
Psalm 33:4,5 … the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. (NIV)
And the way we know that His Word is indeed right and true – the reason we can trust Him – is that His motivations are pure.
The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love…
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
