When the Bad Guys are Winning
Romans 8:38,39 Yes, I am sure that nothing can separate us from God’s love—not death, life, angels, or ruling spirits. I am sure that nothing now, nothing in the future, no powers, nothing above us or nothing below us—nothing in the whole created world—will ever be able to separate us from the love God has shown us in Christ Jesus our Lord.
None of us likes it when we feel that the bad guys are winning. It offends our sense of justice. It’s just not right. But there you go. It doesn’t change the fact that it seems sometimes that the bad guys are winning.
Every now and then, it feels as though the bad guys are winning. You’ve tried – the Lord knows you’ve tried – to do the right thing, but those demons from your past and your present keeps coming at you to plunder your life.
Maybe it’s some deep regret. Maybe it’s some temptation that keeps on swamping you. Maybe it’s someone who just keeps on wanting to hurt you. And no matter how much you try to believe in Jesus, it’s just not working.
The bad guys are definitely winning.
If you’re in that place then what you need right now, is some good news. Are you ready? Here it is.
Nothing … nothing in this world, nothing that’s not even of this world, no force of darkness or hate or hurt or regret – nothing can separate you from the love of God. No power, no height nor depth nor anything else in all creation will ever be able to separate you from God’s love.
He loves you more than words can say. It’s as simple as that. Really. In the face of that powerful truth, are the bad guys still winning? Not on your life!
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
