When You Just Want to Slap Someone
Ephesians 4:2,3 Always be humble and gentle. Be patient and accept each other with love. You are joined together with peace through the Spirit. Do all you can to continue as you are, letting peace hold you together.
Other people can be so incredibly annoying, can’t they? You’re planning on having a day of peace and joy, of honouring God, and then … boom. Some idiot comes along to ruin it all.
It’s happened to all of us, and it’s going to happen again. Those difficult people are out there in droves and they want to rob us of the good and godly day that we’re planning on having.
I saw something funny on social media the other day: My problem is that I want to follow Jesus and slap people too.
Yes, it’s funny – but it also hits the mark. It speaks of the dilemma we all face. Sure, we want to follow Jesus. Absolutely, we want to honour Him. But man … those difficult people make it so incredibly tough.
So, what’s the answer? How do we reconcile our desire to follow Jesus and to slap the difficult people in our lives?
Ephesians 4:2,3 Always be humble and gentle. Be patient and accept each other with love. You are joined together with peace through the Spirit. Do all you can to continue as you are, letting peace hold you together.
The answer is to approach each day with a humble and gentle attitude. That may come naturally to you, but it doesn’t to me. So it’s something I pray about often. And God answers that prayer by breathing His Spirit of patience and acceptance into my heart and yours.
And that sense of God’s peace has a calming effect on you. How do you reconcile your desire to follow Jesus and to slap people?
Invite Him into that place, to help you always to be humble and gentle.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Here in Africa, in such situations, people would first repent for the sin they are about to commit, place Jesus on the shelve, slap the person, then go back and pick The LORD from the shelf!
Thanks be to God who always causes us to TRUIMPH in the Name of Jesus Christ! Amen!
May God, through His Holy Spirit, help me to approach each day with a humble and patient attitude. Amen!
God bless you!

I did something today that was difficult. A coworker, G, got in trouble the day before for cussing at another worker, K. G usually works with me, but was asked to help another employee, K, yesterday when it happened. I had to tell supervision that I felt responsible. G and I usually work together and I had often heard her talk about how she hates K and calls her names. I normally try to say K is all right and try to encourage her to see good in K and not talk such ways. This is why I felt responsible, because if I had brought this attitude to supervision, at least she wouldn’t be sent to help K, I would be. After telling this to supervision, guilt started to set in. What if she lost her job? I talked to super without coming to God in prayer first. After prayer and talking to my husband I came to realize I had to say say what I know or it will escalate in the future.

I call them Sandpaper people because they’re coarse and rough to deal with but God has taught me to listen with a loving heart and find something in their conversation to soften their hearts, something that is dear to them and you’ll be surprised on the change of attitude and their willingness to hear what you have to say about how God through Christ has made you a better person.

Wow, thank you so much for this message. I read this whilst sitting at my work desk and just laugh. I am sure that the Peace of the Holy Spirit works overtime most days.
This is the perfect reminder that we are not Judge and Jury, it is not our place to judge others and take our frustrations out on them – even if it is their fault!!! haha. I give thanks every day for the Power and Peace of the Holy Spirit – Jesus is my rock and I feel so Blessed to have people around me so that the light of Our Lord can shine through me in a positive way.

Trouble is hateful words come so unexpectedly and they hurt. Man do they hurt one feels stabbed and ripped. One turns away, not retaliating,, forgiving. , Bearing with the other making allowances in love. Patiently later explaining the effects. The pain subsides,.given over to Jesus . But it happens again and again …….. adfinitum it seems (although not true I know – there will come an end to it one day).
