Who Has God’s Blessing?
Luke 11:27,28 As Jesus was saying these things, a woman with the people there called out to him, “Blessings from God belong to the woman who gave birth to you and fed you!” But Jesus said, “The people who hear the teaching of God and obey it—they are the ones who have God’s blessing.”
Ahh … the blessing of God. Yep, something we all want – and something that if we believe in Jesus, we all have. Or do we? Let me give you a simple binary choice here. According to Jesus, are you blessed by God or not?
Well, are you? Now be careful, because I’m not asking you whether or not you think you’re blessed. I’m not asking you whether you feel blessed. I’m not asking you to take stock of your circumstances and your emotions and give me a self-assessment of the level of God’s blessing that you’re experiencing right in this moment. Let me be clear, that’s not what I’m asking.
What I am asking is whether, according to Jesus – the Jesus of the Bible – according to what He says, you are blessed of God or not.
I know what you’re thinking as you sit there shaking your head. What is this lunatic raving on about? Here it is:

Of course there’s no doubt that Mary, Jesus’ mother, was blessed. Yet Jesus, Master of juxtaposition that He is, shocks everyone with a twist in His teaching that elevates the ordinary, everyday person to a whole new level of blessing.
But … interesting word that … The people who hear the teaching of God and obey it – they’re the ones who have the blessing of God on their lives!
So let me ask you again the sober question: According to Jesus, according to what He says, are you blessed of God?
Because that’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
