You Can’t Live on Fast Food
Isaiah 55:1,2 All you people who are thirsty, come! Here is water for you to drink. Don’t worry if you have no money. Come, eat and drink until you are full! You don’t need money. The milk and wine are free. Why waste your money on something that is not real food? Why should you work for something that does not really satisfy you? Listen closely to me and you will eat what is good. You will enjoy the food that satisfies your soul.
There’s no doubt that all the junk food we’re eating today is killing us. And if it’s true physically, it’s also true emotionally and spiritually. We’ve walked away from God, and then we wonder why the world’s in such a mess. Really?
Back in 2004 a guy called Morgan Spurlock had a crazy idea. He’d only eat McDonalds for 30 days, making sure that he consumed everything on their menu at least once. The documentary was called “Super Size Me” and the results won’t surprise you.
He gained weight, he felt terrible, and his blood tests went crazy. The doctor told him “This is outrageous – if you don’t stop it, it’ll kill you”. And yet, as a society, we keep consuming all this junk food instead of good wholesome food – and we wonder why it’s killing us.
The same is true spiritually and emotionally … as we’ve progressively forsaken God and opted for a toxic fast-food mix of selfishness and sin – rubbish that was never meant for us. We’ve strayed so far, and yet we wonder why the world’s in such a mess.
Back in the 8th Century BC, the Prophet Isaiah put it like this:
Isaiah 55:1,2 All you people who are thirsty, come! Here is water for you to drink. Don’t worry if you have no money. Come, eat and drink until you are full! You don’t need money. The milk and wine are free. Why waste your money on something that is not real food? Why should you work for something that does not really satisfy you? Listen closely to me and you will eat what is good. You will enjoy the food that satisfies your soul.
So for you, what’s it going to be? Fast food that doesn’t satisfy and makes you sick, or good food from God that’ll satisfy your soul? You choose.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
