Your Enemies Will Not Prosper
Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is fashioned against you shall prosper, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, says the Lord. (NRSV)
Enemies. Life would be so much easier without them. And yet, with monotonous regularity they pop up in our lives to do us harm. And sometimes, it seems they’re winning. But here’s a powerful Word from the Lord for you today.
We all have enemies. Sometimes, it’s because through our own bad behaviour we’ve made enemies of people and if that’s something you’ve done, I want to encourage you right now to go and make peace with them.
But other times, people just take a dislike to you. Or perhaps their greed or ambition makes them want to roll over the top of you. It seems as though some people want to make it their life’s mission to make you miserable, to belittle you, to whisper behind your back, to ignore you, to accuse you of things you didn’t do … whatever it is. There’s a long list there.
However it plays itself out, somehow these people seem intent on doing you harm. So here’s a promise from God, for anyone who believes in Jesus His Son. Are you ready?
Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is fashioned against you shall prosper, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, says the Lord. (NRSV)
Sure, in the short term, your enemies might win the odd battle. But long term, God will protect you. It’s His blessing on your life; His gift; His heritage that He sows into you.
And it doesn’t matter how big or how strong or how powerful your enemies may seem, they are nothing compared to the power of our God. Nothing! Just remember that next time they come up against you.
No weapon that is fashioned against you shall prosper …
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
