Your Place of Safety
Psalm 62:7,8 My victory and honour come from God. He is the mighty Rock, where I am safe. People, always put your trust in God! Tell him all your problems. God is our place of safety.
We chatted yesterday about suffering – the privilege of suffering for Christ as His blessings flow out through us into the lives of those around us. And it is a privilege. But that truth, right there, often doesn’t make it any easier at the time.
What we need during those times of suffering is both a truth and an approach to suffering that has a real impact. Because when we’re suffering, our faith feels flaky. It feels week. We start doubting ourselves and God. So here’s both a truth and an approach that works, from a man who experienced more suffering than you or I will doubtless ever go through – King David:
Psalm 62:7,8 My victory and honour come from God. He is the mighty Rock, where I am safe. People, always put your trust in God! Tell him all your problems. God is our place of safety.
The point is that God’s plan is for you to experience both victory and honour. In David’s case, that meant overcoming his enemies and sitting on the throne of Israel. In your case and mine, it may mean something quite different. It may mean that we discover a courage that we didn’t know we had in us; a peace that passes all understanding.
However that plays itself out, the truth here that really helps is that God is your Rock. He is your place of safety. He will not be moved. He will not fail you. Full stop. End of story.
And the approach that really helps is to put your trust in God. Now that’s easy to say, but much harder to do. So, pour your heart out to Him. Tell Him all your problems. Because He is your place of safety.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
